The Station On Bree

It may sometimes feel that the weekend can’t come soon enough and that to wait until Friday is a day too long to wait. However, fear not, as this summer The Station on Bree ushers in the start of the season with the launch of Thursday Reveal at The Station on Bree. Hosted by local talent and internationally renowned DJ, saxophonist and percussion specialist, George Sax, the amazing line-up promises to deliver the vibe, energy and world-class entertainment for which this popular Bree Street hang-out is known.
Having fast become a Capetonian favourite since opening its doors in 2016, this summer, The Station on Bree is going bigger and better. Every Thursday throughout summer, George Sax, will be joined on stage by an array of home-grown talent. An array of performers will showcase the best of what Africa has to offer in a setting that fuses the iconic design of the London Underground with the bustling and cosmopolitan atmosphere of Bree Street. Whilst The Station on Bree guarantees a great night’s entertainment, it’s the food that always takes centre stage at this fantastic venue. The Station on Bree, sees the introduction of a new summer menu. Continuing in the manner of ‘unpretentious street food’, The Station on Bree offers a casual Mediterranean-infused dining style that focuses on fresh flavours and simple ingredients. From leisurely lunches through to late dinners, visitors have the option of traditional main meals or ordering from a choice of small plates that taps into the culinary trend for a more shared and social approach to dining currently sweeping through the gastronomic world.
Billed as Cape Town’s first underground meeting place, The Station on Bree is a unique, multi-storied venue with a variety of different stations and platforms located throughout. Each of these offers specific services, so whether you’re looking to begin your day with a morning coffee from artisanal brand Mischu, end the day with an after-work cocktail from the fantastic selection on offer, enjoy a leisurely dining experience or start your evening off with a bang – the lively, character-filled atmosphere of The Station on Bree provides an ideal day to night setting that truly has something for everyone! Similarly, The Station on Bree is available for private functions, and can provide a range of package deals to accommodate all requirements to ensure a genuinely memorable occasion.
The Station on Bree takes “Themed bar” to another level. Iconic sounds of the subway play over speakers in the bathrooms, which reveal exposed plumbing and copper accents. Worn-down “Mind the Gap” signage throughout gives the impression that countless soles (and souls) have scuffed against the paintwork over time. Station maps cover the ceiling, a giant platform clock presides over the bar, where a ticket window looks out onto an outdoor courtyard, boasting chalkboard table tops and a roofed train station bench. Suspended light bulbs in the main corridor change colour throughout the evening, and full-walled video timetable adds a contemporary touch. And the wait staff’s train-conductor outfits sew things up beautifully.
To further fuel your experience at The Station on Bree, the newly launched gin menu offers visitors the chance to craft their own gin and tonic, layering botanical flavours with an assortment of lively flavours. If this isn’t quite your thing, choose from the carefully selected wine list that features some of the Cape Winelands’ finest, or sample from a range of local beers on tap. The perfect place to connect with friends, pop into The Station on Bree this summer and climb aboard for a trip that promises to be one of Cape Town’s hottest spots this summer!
The Station on Bree is located at 207 Bree St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, 8001 and is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 11h00 till late.
